Jānis has been practising tax & customs law since 1995. Under his leadership, Sorainen has been recognised as Baltic Tax Firm of the Year by ITR 10 times out of 15 years since the Baltics have been evaluated.
Jānis has been involved in countless large-scale projects covering most of the main tax aspects in various industries. A significant part of the projects involves facilitating cross-border tax needs. Therefore, collaboration with the WTS Global tax network brings tangible benefits to the clients. After years of cooperation, in 2019 Sorainen joined membership of WTS Global, and four years later, Jānis became a Member of the Supervisory Board at WTS Global.
Many like his tax blogs and other information that he regularly shares. Tax Stories podcast hosted by Jānis covers life stories of people dealing with tax, from Latvia and all over the world.
He is also a board member of the Latvian Golf Federation and a co-founder of a NGO Entrepreneurs For Peace that organises collection of donations and channels of logistics for helping Ukraine. For active participation in the latter, he has received from the state president the highest civilian order – Order of the Three Stars.
