WTS Nobisfields has donated the prize it won from the latest sustainability campaign #ForTheGreaterGood organized by WTS Global. Together with its co-sponsor, WTS Global, a local NGO, Hope For That Child was selected to be a beneficiary of the prize. For more details, please see here.
The donation was used to support The Girl Project of Hope For That Child. Our donation will provide 120 girls in rural government schools with a year's supply of sanitary products. This will assist in addressing the Period Poverty plaguing them. The NGO, represented by Mrs. Valentina Opoku, the Project Co-ordinator also received a cash donation for its operations.
Period poverty refers to the lack of access to menstrual hygiene products, proper sanitation facilities, and education about menstrual health. It is a harsh reality in the Ghanaian community, especially because of the high applicable taxes on sanitary products. It causes missed school or work days, compromised health and a sense of shame and stigma surrounding menstruation.
On 14 September 2023, girls in three schools: Mangoase Presby School, New Mangoase R/C School, and Old Mangoase School received their supplies and the last batch will be given to girls in Gambibigo School, in the Bolga East District of Ghana.
