Ireland: Brief update on VAT invoicing in Ireland

During his Budget Speech on 10^th October 2023, Minister for Finance, Michael McGrath announced that the Irish Revenue Commissioners would launch a Public Consultation focusing on “how we can use digital advances to modernise Ireland’s VAT Invoicing and Reporting System” for B2B and B2G VAT reporting.

The Public Consultation process will run from 13 October 2023 to 12 January 2024 and respondents should include businesses, accounting software provider, e-invoicing providers, tax practitioners etc.

Once the initial consultancy process is finalised, the Irish Revenue Commissioners will analyse the responses with key business and adviser stakeholders in order to give feedback and recommendations. This feedback in expected within 2024.
