Transaction data analysis at the touch of a button with low-code solutions 

Due to the large amount of company-specific information and data points, determining and documenting intercompany transactions is a major challenge for many companies taking a significant amount of time and tying up internal resources.

Increasing compliance and transparency requirements as well as the growing demand for operational or transfer pricing-relevant data in the context of tax audits increase the pressure to act, especially where companies have only limited resources striving to keep their compliance processes lean.

The case study with the HARTMANN Group demonstrates how we can use low-code solutions to support tax departments in better utilizing their data and optimizing their processes in line with their requirements within a moderate project timeframe.

 

 

The Hartmann Group

The HARTMANN Group is a leading European provider for medical and care products with local HARTMANN companies in more than 35 countries. As an internationally operating corporation, the HARTMANN Group meets documentation requirements in a large number of countries. The corporate tax department of the HARTMANN Group plans and manages the compliance tasks of the parent company, PAUL HARTMANN AG, and supports local tax departments of the group companies in this process.

The project

The project covered the analysis, optimization and automation of processes for the analysis of intercompany transaction data of the HARTMANN GROUP for transfer pricing documentation purposes.

Challenge / initial situation
  • - Manual analysis of transaction data from various sources using Excel

    - Repetition of many individual work steps for a large number of companies in more than 50 different Excel files

    - Time-consuming updates in various files and worksheets in case of changes compared to the previous year

Solution

- Merging of all relevant data and data preparation "at the push of a button"

- Automated calculations and grouping into transaction groups using assignment rules

- Automated plausibility checks and data validation steps

- Output of a transaction matrix for each company in the desired format
