WTS named Top Employer in 2017

Award presentation by Wolfgang Clement in Berlin

Munich, 20/02/2017 – WTS has been awarded the TOP JOB accolade for its exceptional workplace culture, making it a leading employer in Germany. Wolfgang Clement, former German Federal Minister of Economy and a mentor for the initiative, presented the prize to the consultancy company on February 17th, 2017 in Berlin.

Reacting to the award, Fritz Esterer, CEO of WTS, said: “Receiving the TOP JOB accolade highlights just how positively WTS has developed in recent years. WTS has experienced rapid growth since its inception in 2000. Last year alone, we achieved a Group turnover of more than EUR 100 million. An essential ingredient of our success is our workforce, for whom we always try to provide an outstanding working environment.”

The independent scientific assessment was carried out in various categories using an employee survey and a HR questionnaire.* WTS achieved particularly impressive results on questions concerning management: Survey respondents rated WTS above-average for communication of a clear corporate vision and support for achievement of personal goals. There was also excellent feedback concerning further training options, family friendliness and scope for entrepreneurial initiative by employees.

“Assessing employee survey results is a very good measure for sentiments within the company. It is now time to build on the very positive experience and to filter out the potential for optimisation. This takes us a step closer to our aim of becoming one of the most attractive employers in the consultancy sector on a permanent basis,” says Fritz Esterer.

Employee development as the basis for growth

Employees are actively supported at WTS. Annual reviews are carried out to identify talents and plan their development. With this in mind, WTS launched a career development programme for new recruits. With the WTS Academy, WTS also offers a comprehensive training package to employees at all stages of their career. The academy focuses on seminars for soft skills, methods and management, as well as specialist training.

“Top Job” company comparison

Since 2002, medium-sized companies have been working alongside “Top Job” on their qualities as employers. The project also includes an award that allows the best employers to shed light on their qualities. The organisation is run by zeag GmbH – Zentrum für Arbeitgeberattraktivität, the Centre for Employer Branding – with its headquarters at Lake Constance. Scientific management of benchmarking is the responsibility of Prof. Dr. Heike Bruch and her team from the Institute for Leadership and Human Resource Management [Institut für Führung und Personalmanagement] at St. Gallen University. The project mentor is the German Federal Minister of Economics, Wolfgang Clement.

The Centre for Employer Branding was founded in 2015. Under the umbrella of the Centre for Employer Branding, the former compamedia CEO and founder of zeag, Silke Masurat, is taking both projects, “Ethics in Business” and “Top Job” to the next stage. As such, zeag is supporting medium-sized companies who are already achieving outstanding performance in the areas of HR management and corporate social responsibility or who wish to operate in these domains over the medium term.
