Home Services End-to-End Customs

End-to-End Customs

Efficient and smooth cross-border trade is crucial for the success of global economic systems. However, the internationalization of businesses and the globalization of supply chains have led to complex customs processing. Given the different regulations and national sovereignty, the customs process is time-consuming and complex, especially when companies operate internationally.

Digital customs: end-to-end process along the entire supply chain

At the same time, there is also great potential for customs and tax departments. We have developed our digital service in the area of customs to leverage precisely this potential in companies. The term "end-to-end customs" refers to the seamless integration of customs procedures along the entire supply chain. This means that the various players, such as freight forwarders, transport companies, importers and exporters and customs authorities, are digitally networked with each other and can exchange information in real time. In addition, real-time analysis of trade data enables companies to gain better insights into their supply chain.

Digital solutions help to fulfill customs obligations and facilitate electronic data exchange with customs authorities. By using standardized data formats, data can be seamlessly transferred from one system to another, significantly reducing manual workload.

In the complex area of customs, the end-to-end approach we apply as a process perspective is now almost without alternative. In addition, seamless digital mapping is the best basis for generating innovative analyses (advanced analytics) with clear recommendations: Companies immediately gain more precise knowledge of business processes, greater planning certainty when making decisions and, incidentally, a strengthening of governance.

Tailor-made optimizations for sustainable business success

In individual cases, however, the optimizations can go much further and, for example, result in a review of suppliers according to customs criteria or even in the complete outsourcing of individual activities, such as tariff classification. Thanks to our special partnership with customs software providers, companies also benefit from a head start in terms of expertise, including in-depth consulting in complex customs IT transformation projects (e.g. SAP S/4HANA) and comparable technologies as well as SAP GTS (Global Trade Services).

We provide support in the analysis and evaluation of customs processes with regard to the degree of digitization, in the implementation of digitization measures, in the selection of customs IT solutions and their implementation, in data analysis and cost optimization for customs procedures, free trade agreements and customs brokers.

CustomsComplianceEngine - digital sanctions list screening

The sanctions list check is one of the central elements of export control and is an important part of a company's compliance strategy. It is important to ensure that no business is conducted with persons or organizations that have been listed under sanctions. Misconduct can lead to considerable legal and financial consequences. The performance of sanctions list checks is a regular part of foreign trade audits by the customs authorities. WTS uses the CustomsComplianceEngine to safeguard its business activities. This ensures that the latest valid sanctions lists are checked and complied with.

Procedure for checking the sanctions list

A comprehensive review of business partners (this includes natural persons, legal entities and organizations) is carried out to ensure compliance with current sanctions lists. Matching names are checked on a case-by-case basis. In addition, indirect supplies are checked and possible circumvention transactions are monitored. The checks carried out and an assessment under customs and export control law are made available to companies in order to ensure legally compliant and risk-minimized business management.

  • Determination of the business partners to be audited: The relevant audit parameters are defined and set.
  • Provision of data sets: The necessary business partner information is made available.
  • Check in the WTS CustomsComplianceEngine: The data records provided are checked by WTS in the engine.
  • Verification of the result: You are informed of the result of the check and the final decision is agreed with you (if necessary with the involvement of WTS Customs Advisory)
  • Documentation: Audit-relevant documentation is created for the legally compliant review of the business partners.

AI CustomsClassificationEngine

In today's highly digitized world, accurate customs classifications and compliance with international regulations are of paramount importance. Inefficient and manual processes for the complex tariff classification process, whether it is intentional or negligent misclassification, can result in significant consequences and even penalties.

We offer you the perfect solution to make your tariff classification faster, more accurate and more efficient: the WTS AI CustomsClassificationEngine. With the help of our AI-supported tariff classification service, your company will meet the requirements of modern global trade and your tariff classification processes will be reliably brought into the digital age.

AI CustomsClassificationEngine process

  1. Entry of material master data: The material master data serves as a basic guideline for tariff classification. The provision of high-quality master data increases the quality of the final data.
  2. Review of existing classification data: Our experienced experts check the data quality and validate the existing classifications. The data is prepared for the engine and converted into a suitable format in order to create an exact set of rules for rating.
  3. Efficient classification through AI: With the help of artificial intelligence, the collected material master data and verified classifications are used to generate precise classification proposals.
  4. Adjustments in the event of changes: In the event of any changes to material data or customs tariff numbers, the set of rules can be adapted flexibly and quickly.
  5. Outlier analysis: If a deviating classification is proposed for a product, this is recognized as a deviation and carefully checked to ensure correct tariff classification. Regular follow-up checks of the data greatly improve data quality.

Our services with the AI CustomsClassificationEngine

  • Classification is carried out by our experienced customs specialists using the WTS AI CustomsClassificationEngine
